Quinlan Vos: Jedi Without a Past Site Map Navigation Help Quinlan Vos: Jedi Without a Past An Expanded Universe Character from Dark Horse Comics By Mike Mikaelian and JD Wiker Based on the "Twilight" series from Dark Horse Comics For Quinlan Vos, life started at what very well could have been the end. His first memory is waking up in a room nearly consumed in flames, with no idea of who -- or what -- he was. Training and instinct allowed him to escape a fiery death, but that's when the questions -- and the adventure -- really began. His dangerous and unsettling journey of self-discovery will whet your appetite for the next stage in the haunted Jedi's quest, which begins in July with issue 32 of the ongoing Star Wars comic book series published by Dark Horse! As an extra-special treat, here is the feat description, excerpted from an upcoming Star Wars sourcebook. New Feat: Psychometry You can pick up impressions of past events from inanimate objects. Prerequisite: Force-Sensitive, Wisdom 15+. Benefit: You can perceive past events by handling objects that were present at those event as though you were present. The perspective is the same as the perspective of the object's wielder; you see, hear, and feel what the wielder saw, heard, and felt, but no more. You cannot, for example, read the writing on a computer screen if the object's wielder did not. You do, however, gain an impression of the wielder's emotions in regard to the event. Using Psychometry is a full-round action, and requires a Sense Motive check. The DC depends upon the connection of the item to the events being reviewed: The Kiffar Kiffar are a near-Human species that hail from the Azurbani system. The system's twin planets -- Kiffu and Kiffex -- share an elliptical orbit around its sun. When their orbits bring the two planets near each other incredible lightning storms result, which the Kiffar harness as a source of energy. Kiffu, the larger of the two planets, is home to most Kiffar. Kiffex, on the other hand, is primarily a penal colony. Presiding over this prison planet are the Guardians. Kiffar Species Traits +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom. Kiffar are hardy beings, though they tend to rely on instinct and feelings in favor of knowledge and fact. Medium-sized. As Medium-sized creatures, Kiffar have no special bonuses or penalties due to size. Kiffar base speed is 10 meters. Psychometric Ability: Some Kiffar (about one out of every 100) have a natural ability to "read" psychic impressions sentient beings and events leave on objects they handle. See the Psychometry feat description. Automatic Languages: Basic. ConnectionDC Personal item frequently used10 Personal item infrequently used15 Item used by multiple individuals20 Item handled once25 Special: Sometimes the impressions granted by Psychometry reflect the influence of the dark side on the wielder of the object being examined. As a result, if the original character gained a dark side point performing the act seen by Psychometry, the hero using Psychometry to review that act gains a dark side point as well. The GM should warn the player, just like the original character was warned. ("Killing the prisoner would be an evil act -- so if you continue with your Psychometry attempt, you may gain a dark side point.") GMs should be careful to use this as a warning, rather than an absolute consequence. If the hero wishes to continue reviewing the events and the original character did not gain a dark side point, the hero doesn't, either. The Jedi Order frowns on using Psychometry on dead bodies for this very reason: The emotions at the time of a violent death are often so strong that had the deceased actually lived, he or she would have brushed the dark side -- which means that the hero would, as well. Unless the GM gives express permission otherwise, you must be a Kiffar (a Human native to Kiffu) to take this feat. Want to learn more about Quinlan Vos?
